On 27th July, Jo and Andrew supported a person with lived experience at a Mental Health Co-Production meeting online. During the meeting, introductions were done and the discussion was around what support was given after leaving the hospital and what else could be done. It was said that whilst in hospital, a diagnosis was given, however, no information was provided on what this meant and how to live with this.
When leaving the hospital, a support worker was put into place for a short period of time (approx. 12 weeks) and then when this came to an end, there was no further support offered, whether this be for support groups or other organisations that could help. The person with lived experience said they felt quite isolated after this, especially as they do not have support at home. They said they struggled with appointments and getting into town due to their anxiety and didn’t know who to contact to get further support.
Professionals at the meeting said they will look into this and find a way of ensuring the information is shared correctly and will look at support workers signposting people to the relevant groups and services.
