Andrew and Jo attended the Down Syndrome Forum at the Brampton in Newcastle. First off, there was a presentation by the volunteer manager at Support Staffordshire. She spoke about the opportunities they have for everyone and about their inclusivity. They introduced us to one of the volunteers who shared his experience with everyone. This was such and inspiring talk.

Next up was Sendiass. They explained the support they can give to young people and families with disabilities when going through the EHCP process. Then there was a presentation from Connect to Work. They explained the process and what they can do to support people to find employment and the support they put in place when they do find a job (i.e. reasonable adjustments).

This was followed by a talk about Community Champions and how people can sign up to this.

There was a great presentation from the Grocott Centre which raised a lot of interest from the individuals with lived experience. They showed the activities they do and the support they give. Lastly, there was a presentation from the Down Syndrome Association. They explained how they can support individuals with Down Syndrome get into work and they support they give them. They introduced a young lady they have supported who gave an inspiring talk about her experience and how she is applying to work for Houses of Parliament. It was great to hear so many great stories and experiences.
