HI, my name is Jo Colclough and I am currently an Advocacy Facilitator for Asist. I have worked as a multi-skilled advocate for Asist for approximately 4 years. Previously, I worked as a support worker in a young adults’ complex needs and autism specialist residential service and before that, I worked as a complaints manager/support trainer for a large communication company for many years.
My role now is to attend groups across Staffordshire to obtain peoples views on what their struggles are within the community and also what is going well for them and then presenting this information to the board. I want to encourage people to come along and self-advocate at the sub-groups to ensure their voices are being heard. I will also be working with people with lived experience to co-produce plans for the Staffordshire Learning Disability, Sensory and Neurodiverse Community.
