Easy Read Materials
Easy Read is information presented as words and images, using clear, Plain English with images or photographs to illustrate the events or ideas being expressed in words. It is usually used to provide information to people with learning disabilities, but can also be useful to people with lower literacy levels or people who use English as a second language. Easy Read is about trying to summarise and explain information in a way anyone understand.
At Asist we use a clear, consistent Easy Read format, developed in co-production with adults with learning disabilities. Our images are usually from the Photosymbols library, which we have a paid license to use, though we sometimes use free image banks too. Our Easy Read also features a larger font (at least 16 or 18 point) to make it more accessible to people with some sight loss.
